Wow, it is hard to believe it is almost Thanksgiving & Christmas. Where does the time go I wonder? In my small community it almost time to vote again. What we are voting for is the bigger question? Are we to vote based on the party we selected when we registered to vote? Do we blindly just follow along & vote the way our spouse says to or because that is what our family has always done?
WHOSE SHOES?
“Shoes divide men into three classes. Some men wear their fathers shoes. They make no decision of their own. Some are unthinkingly shod by the crowd. The strong man is his own cobbler. He insists on making his own choices. He walks in his own shoes.” S.D. Gordon
It seems to me that both parties, represented by a D or R are very misguided & deceptive, so I will always try to vote after doing my "due diligence" or vetting the candidate or issue that I am asked to cast my ballot for. Even though we live in a time where all of the information is available to us with just a Google search are we really getting the correct information or is it biased to one letter of the voting block only? It seems to me harder than ever to find out just exactly what the issue is, how it will impact me, my family, the future...Perhaps I should just drive around the neighborhood & select the person or issue with the biggest most expensive sign (not) or perhaps I should lay out all of the mailers like a deck of cards & close my eyes and select one?
There are no easy answers to the challenges we are facing nationally & globally. However, we do have decisions to make based on the long term affects our choices will have on future generations. I certainly hope that my fellow "Gen-Ex's" will not blindly follow the crowd or just do what they have always done this time around. There is too much at stake.
